Learning About The Disadvantages Of Wind Energy Systems and Wind Power

  • Sharebar

Wind power structures have earned a great deal of popularity for past few years. The eco friendly systems along with the fresh and natural  energy that it creates are the grounds for its popularity. Some scientists have  expressed the opinion that wind power is far more advantageous than solar power as it’s still  available even after the sun sets. Wind power is a free energy source and it eleminates the use of any material for generating energy.  Still, wind power energy has its drawbacks, there’s a high cost  required in setting up these wind turbines adding onto that, the need for the right  position to be set up needs to be taken into consideration.  Wind energy is not that  simple when it comes to installation and can be quite complicated.

Most of the systems require maintenance on a regular basis and as well as the replacing of particular parts. These parts  such as battery packs are quite costly. One of the disadvantages of wind energy is depending on the unpredictable nature of producing energy. The potential of wind energy relies on the  speed of wind, if the wind slows down the entire system will not work near it’s capacity. Only in certain parts of the United States will there be  continuous wind energy available. In terms of the other areas, it s not feasible  to switch to wind energy even if it is cost effective. In case the wind is not steady, there should be backup resources available generating the demand.

The other disadvantage of wind energy is that it s often located in remote regions; this increases  the costs of transmitting the energy that s produced in these farms.  Wind energy needs to be  received by a large number of people if it were to be useful. Adding onto this,  transporting this type of energy may not be that easy. Wind resource development may be a  contest for other uses of land. Instead of apportioning the land for wind energy it can be used  for generate something more crucial to the nation.

There is a particular level of pollution from wind energy plants  although it is just a fraction when compared to other energy generation methods. The noise that s produced by the rotor  blades can create aesthetic optical impacts and sometimes birds get killed by flying into these rotor  blades. Wind farms take up a lot of space in order to be setup, in states where space is limited  this is not favorable. Wind energy requires external power source or an additional rotor so that it can start  to work. These are the few  disadvantages of wind energy which could affect its consumption.
